Czech Railways (ČD) plans to install part of the security system ETCS Level 2 to 663 vehicles of 33 kinds. This will raise the security on Czech lines thanks to the communication between the railroad and train equipment. The new system allows an early stop of a train before the signalling device or a reduction of speed. The estimated value of the contract is CZK 6.6bn and some 85% can be co-financed by the European fund CEF, which supports projects in the segment of the interconnection of European transport and communication networks.
