Karlovy Vary, West Bohemia, July 5 (CTK) – French actor Jean Reno received festival president’s award at the 51st Karlovy Vary International Film Festival last night.
At the same time, he personally introduced the film Leon: The Professional by Luc Besson from 1994 where he performed a silent professional hitman.
“Thanks you for looking at films because you make them alive,” Reno told the crowd while receiving standing ovations.
“If it were not for you, there would be no films or actors,” he added.
Reno then joked that the crystal globe was so heavy that he was not sure whether he would be let in the aircraft.
Reno gained international fame by acting in a number of films by Besson, such as The Big Blue and Nikita, for which he was nominated for the Cesar award.
Reno is also a holder of the European Film Award for exceptional contribution to the world cinematography.
Reno was born in Casablanca in 1948. Along with film, he has also acted in theatre.
