The Globe Bookstore and Café to host Czech-American author

Czech-American author, Victoria Dougherty, who lived in Prague during the 1990s, has set her new historical thriller, The Bone Church, in (the former) Czechoslovakia. The Globe Bookstore and Café will be hosting a reading of Ms. Dougherty’s thriller on Monday, October 6th at 7:00 pm. Ms. Dougherty, whose parents and grandparents are Czech political refugees, often writes about the Cold War era, and much of The Bone Church takes place in 1956.

Ms. Dougherty’s work has been published or profiled in The New York Times, USA Today, International Herald Tribune and elsewhere. She writes a blog, COLD (www.victoriadougherty.wordpress.com) that features essays on faith, family, spies, killers, curses and destinies. Earlier in her career, while living in Prague, she co-founded Black Box Theater, translating, producing and acting in several Czech plays. She lives with her husband and children in Charlottesville, Virginia.
