Summer in the Czech Republic is in full swing, with temperatures in Prague often approaching those of the tropical islands. What better time to try ice cream than during the summer months? Here is a small guide to the cafes that offer the tastiest, freshest and most unusual ice cream in Prague.

Angelato

The first Angelato ice cream café opened in the center of Prague in 2007. Delicious ice cream from the family manufactory, prepared artisanally (without artificial additives, flavour enhancers and preservatives) from quality farm products.

The café constantly surprises with some unique ice cream flavours. For example, one of the most popular flavours is Coconut Ash. This ice cream is black in color: it looks like charcoal, but has a pleasant coconut flavour.

Every month Angelato has new flavors of ice cream. Among the most unusual are ice creams with flavours of rice, parmesan, zucchini, nettle or elderflower. You can keep track of new flavors on the cafe’s website.

Puro Gelato

Puro Gelato is a cosy Prague gelateria with several branches. Here they make gelato, a popular Italian frozen dessert. It is made with fresh cow’s milk, sugar, cream and added berries, nuts, fresh fruit or chocolate.

Gelato differs from ordinary ice cream in that it has less milk fat (only 4-6%) and a higher sugar content. It is not industrially produced because it must be served immediately after being made. It is said that each chef gets a completely unique taste of gelato.

At Puro Gelato you can enjoy not only different flovours of gelato, but also refreshing vegan sorbet desserts.
