July death toll on Czech roads lowest in five past years

Prague, July 31 (CTK) – Sixty-three people died on Czech roads in July, which has been the lowest death toll in the first month of the summer holiday in the past five years and the same as in 2011, according to preliminary police statistics and information by traffic police chief Tomas Lerch.
Last year, road accidents claimed 80 lives in July.
However, July has been the most tragic month on Czech roads this year so far.
On the contrary, the lowest death toll (27) was in January.
Since the beginning of the year, 286 people died in road accidents in the Czech Republic. Last year, it was 344 for the same period.
The most tragic day of this month was July 1 when six people died in road accidents.
The highest death toll in July was registered in 2003 when almost 160 people died on Czech roads, according to the traffic police data.
