Prague, Sept 2 (CTK) – The Czech Railways (CD) national rail operator will be ready to dispatch a special train fro migrants from South Moravia, CD writes on its website yesterday in reaction to the the refugee crisis latest developments.
Migrants from Syria and the Middle East mostly try to get to Germany, travelling across the Balkans and Central European countries.
It may happen that high numbers of migrants who wish to arrive in Germany will use international trains running mostly from Budapest, CD writes.
Hundreds of migrants have been crowding around the Keleti train station in Budapest for several days in hope of boarding a train going to Austria or Germany.
On Tuesday, international trains began to be delayed due to foreigners’ checks.
The Czech Railways board discussed yesterday the security situation related to the wave of refugees heading for Europe.
Michal Stepan, from the CD board, said a reserve locomotive will be prepared in Brno and further carriages will be sent to Breclav, a Moravian town at the border with Austria and close to Slovakia.
CD board chairman Pavel Krtek said the company feels obliged to get engaged in dealing with the crisis situation.
A CD representative will meet the Czech chief sanitary official to talk about the possible sanitary and health risks involved.
CD writes that it is cooperating with the police who provide information about the movements of migrants.
The Czech foreigner police repeatedly detained refugees revealed aboard trains crossing the Czech Republic. On Monday night, they detained 214 refugees on trains coming from Austria and Hungary.
