Prague, Aug 4 (CTK) – The Czech police will set in operation a permanent helpline to prevent security risks on Friday, Deputy Police President Martin Vondrasek told journalists yesterday.
The operators will give advice to the owners and operators of community facilities as well as organisers of sports, cultural and other events, Vondrasek said.
Along with the helpline, the organisers may also use an e-mail address for their questions.
The helpline will be administered by a methodological group protecting the soft targets.
“The situation in the neighbouring countries is not favourable in this sphere. This is why we are trying to accelerate the activities with a view to protecting the soft targets,” Vondrasek said.
At first, the system was to be established at the beginning of next year.
The group will permanently cooperate with the operators and organisers, assess the security situation in Europe, draft a list of the most important soft targets and recommend to regional police commands that they take exceptional measures if some selected risk events are to be held.
Along with representatives of the the National Centre against Organised Crime (NCOZ), the group will include head of the Prague police, director of the immigration police and members of the police command emergency department.
The Interior Ministry denotes as soft targets the places with a high concentration of people, which are not permanently protected and are easily accessible. These may be departments stores, cultural and sports centres and churches.
