Vysni Lhoty, North Moravia, Sept 6 (CTK) – The number of refugees in the camp in Vysni Lhoty is rising and there are 331 of them now compared with the planned 220, Justice Minister Robert Pelikan said after he visited the facility yesterday and added that capacities for more people are being prepared.
“We could see another part of the complex being prepared (for more refugees),” Pelikan said.
He said he does not know how many migrants will be eventually placed in the facility.
In the past, the complex was also used for refugees. According to CTK’s information, there were up to 1000 people.
Pelikan met the refugees yesterday. “I spoke with them. All said they are cared well for within possibilities,” he said.
However, in connection with a recent attack on a man guarding the camp, he conceded that the migrants are under pressure.
“They do not know what will happen next. None of them probably imagined the end of their journey to be like this. They have been long here. It is a big problem to which we will have to seek a solution. It cannot continue like this,” Pelikan said.
The complex in Vysni Lhoty spreads on 75,000 square metres. It was used as a refugee facility until December 2009. Migrants returned to it in August. Now, they stay in one building.
There is also a reception facility in Zastavka near Brno with a capacity of 216 beds, 169 out of which are occupied, according to public Czech Television (CT).
The detention centre in Bela pod Bezdezem, central Bohemia, can take maximally 700 migrants. Now there are 613 of them there.
In the reception camp in Breclav-Postorna, south Bohemia, 300 beds have been prepared. They are not occupied for now.
