Prague, Nov 11 (CTK) – The CETIN telecommunications company, owned by the richest Czech, Petr Kellner, will be the new general partner of the Prague Spring international music festival, its director Roman Belor told journalists yesterday.
Last year, the festival lost its previous general partner, Ceska sporitelna bank, after 14 years.
This year, the budget of the 70th festival is about 83 million crowns, ranging between 75 and 80 millions in the past years.
“At the moment, there are talks on the sum of the contribution by the Culture Ministry in 2016,” Belor said.
“The contribution is vital for the festival both financially and symbolically as it confirms the status of the most important festival of classical music in the Czech Republic,” he added.
The RWE Ceska republika energy company is still the official partner of the festival. It is also sponsored by the Prague City Hall whose contribution will increase this year.
The festival will be held under the auspices of President Milos Zeman.
The 71st festival will start on May 12, 2016. It will offer 50 concerts of classical music in 17 concert rooms.
