Jindrichuv Hradec, South Bohemia, Aug 17 (CTK) – Thirteen minks died recently at a fur farm near Jindrichuv Hradec, probably succumbing to stress after animal protectors sprayed them pink, State Veterinary Administration spokesman Petr Pejchal has told CTK.
The activists sprayed the minks in order to make their fur unsellable.
“Some minks remained pink even after being washed. Those of the minks, whose eyes were hit by the spray, had problems with sight,” Pejchal said.
Eleven minks died on August 10 and another two two days later.
The farm managers found the inscription ALF sprayed on the farm fence, which is the acronym for the Animal Liberation Front, an organisation fighting against the maltreatment of animals.
The culprits may be fined up to 500,000 crowns.
“The State Veterinary Administration warns that it is absolutely inadmissible to solve one’s personal conviction that a breeder maltreats animals, by attacking their farm and thereby maltreating the animals bred there,” Pejchal said.
