Prague, Jan 19 (CTK) – Czech Justice Minister Robert Pelikan (ANO) has signed a decision cancelling the appointment of Pavel Ondrasek as head of the Prison Service in April 2014, ministerial spokeswoman Tereza Schejbalova told journalists yesterday.
According to a ministerial review of the affair, Ondrasek’s appointment was illegal because the previous dismissal of Ondrasek’s predecessor, Petr Dohnal, was illegal, too, Schejbalova said, adding that after the decision is delivered, Ondrasek will be subordinated to Dohnal.
Ondrasek said previously he was ready to defend himself against his dismissal from the post of the Prison Service head by filing a complaint.
Dohnal was dismissed in April 2014 by former justice minister Helena Valkova (ANO) for what she called loss of trust and financial mismanagement. He was replaced by Ondrasek.
Dohnal challenged the decision in court that eventually decided in his favour.
After the Prague Municipal Court delivered the verdict last December, the Justice Ministry re-examined Ondrasek’s appointment and then cancelled it.
Schejbalova said Pelikan presumed that Dohnal and Ondrasek would now agree on the latter’s relevant position in the prison service.
Immediately after his reinstatement, Dohnal made some personnel changes that affected some of Ondrasek’s closest fellow workers.
Ondrasek said he considered all Dohnal’s steps illegal because he had not approved them.
