Prague, Jan 20 (CTK) – The Bloc Against Islam (BPI) headed by Martin Konvicka and its ally, the Czech Dawn party that is radically against Muslim migrants, have launched their own paper, called Narodni listy (National Paper), daily Mlada fronta Dnes (MfD) writes yesterday.
The paper is published by the Tyneside company, owned by lawyer Jiri Mates, a former close aide to Vit Barta, leader of the Public Affairs (VV) party that ceased to exist in July 2015.
The VV was a member of the centre-right coalition government, headed by Petr Necas (Civic Democratic Party, ODS), in 2010-2012.
Narodni listy has been sold in Prague since the beginning of the week, MfD writes.
It calls for the signing of a petition for the protection of national borders and invites to the February joint rally in Prague, Dresden and other European towns, it adds.
BPI was established in June 2015. It has staged a number of rallies against the spread of Islam.
Former Dawn leader Tomio Okamura said last year Mates was Barta’s “personal lawyer,” MfD writes.
Like some other VV deputies, Barta ran for the Dawn of Direct Democracy to the Chamber of Deputies in autumn 2013.
The populist Dawn of Direct Democracy was elected to the Chamber of Deputies in October 2013. After some internal struggles, it split into several factions. One of them, now called the Dawn-National Coalition, is campaigning on an anti-migrant platform. It has formed an election alliance with the BPI.
