Prague, Sept 21 (CTK) – The Interior Ministry will get 420 million crowns more next year, Interior Minister Milan Chovanec and Finance Minister Andrej Babis agreed this morning before a cabinet meeting that is likely to approve the 2017 state budget bill, the public Czech Television (CT) has reported.
Chovanec (Social Democrats, CSSD) demanded that the budget of his ministry be increased by 1.1 million crowns, which Babis (ANO) rejected.
Chovanec said previously the police needed arms, vehicles and special equipment for the anti-terrorism struggle.
Babis said he believed that all the demands were dealt with in the meetings he had with the individual ministers in July and August. He said there are no further reserves and the deficit cannot be increased.
The next year’s draft budget is projected with a deficit of 60 billion crowns.
The 2017 budget of the Interior Ministry will be 3.8 billion crowns higher than this year’s budget, according to CT.
