Prague, Nov 24 (CTK) – Foreigners who will be sentenced to more than three years in prison over a deliberate crime or who were repeatedly convicted may have their residence permit cancelled in the Czech Republic, under the bill signed into law by President Milos Zeman yesterday.
The refugees released from detention facilities will receive money to travel from the country under the amendments to the asylum law and foreigner law.
Under the legislation, the Refugee Facilities Administration is to pay 400 crowns for a ticket and food to the released migrants without any money.
The Interior Ministry will also be able to pay a subsidy to the municipalities with detention facilities for foreigners.
At present, the municipalities with asylum centres are entitled to the subsidy of eight crowns per person and day.
The legislation will also harmonise the Czech asylum proceedings with the EU law. The applicants will have to undergo a medical check-up if it is needed for the protection of public health.
Health insurance companies are to cover the preventive check-ups of the foreigners’ children that will get into child asylums after entering the Czech Republic
The legislation is also to allow the detention of asylum seekers if there is a plausible suspicion that they pose a risk to national security.
The applicants can be rejected if they “committed a particular cruel act with a political objective.”
The legislation also clearly defines the reasons for which a refugee should be placed in a detention centre.
