Prague, Nov 25 (CTK) – The police have reinforced their protection of shopping centres, international airports and the French embassy in Prague.
For the time being, there is no reason to change the security measures, Chovanec said.
“I think it will be possible to lift the measures in a few weeks, definitely not for now,” Chovanec said.
It depends on the developments in the neighbouring and also other European countries, he added.
“It is evident that large numbers of people will be gathering in shopping centres and at other places of the Czech Republic to do Christmas shopping. We will do our best to ensure their safety. On the days when a stronger accumulation of shopping people can be expected, the police will even extend their patrols,” Chovanec said.
He said the tightened security measures will remain in force until the end of the year at least.
The police imposed the measures in the night to November 14 when about 130 people died in a series of terrorist attacks in Paris.
