Prague, Sept 12 (CTK) – The September 11th Foundation, established in the Czech Republic on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington with the aim of helping diminish the occurrence and impacts of terrorism, was presented at a press conference yesterday.
Its founders include former Military Intelligence head Andor Sandor and former ambassador to Ukraine Jaroslav Basta.
The foundation will analyse the roots of terrorism, compare methods of standing up to attacks and assess recommended ways of coping with terrorism impacts, the founders said in a press release.
The foundation will hold lectures, organise specialist training and provide legislative and expert consultancy.
It will cooperate with former members of the secret services and police and with academics.
Basta, former minister without portfolio in Milos Zeman’s government (1998-2000), said he lacks “information that would acquaint the public with the issue (of terrorism) without resorting to sensations, unnecessary scare-mongering, but that would be entirely frank.”
To be informed means to be ready, Basta added.
