We are a group of young queer activists. We are creating an inclusive, feminist, green, and above all else, a queer platform. Join us on Saturday 7th of August for Reclaim Pride – March for Equality! Reclaim Pride was first founded in NYC, as a movement of LGBTQI+ groups and activists. Following the intention to reclaim the Pride Marches as protests, and not parties for cis gay and lesbians, they created the first Reclaim Pride, an inclusive march for all queers. They managed to make it an anticapitalist safe-space for everyone, reminding themselves of the 50th Stonewall Riots anniversary, which gave birth to the first ever Pride Parade. We have many reasons – their audacity of still using the non-inclusiveContinue Reading

Until this Friday, the current government restrictions make it illegal to not wear a respirator inside buildings and in public transport. This Tuesday, this government decision was overruled by the Czech Supreme Administrative Court. In its press report on the decision, the court described that the implementation of this set of restrictions was not sufficiently justified. Especially the fact that wearing respirators is mandatory for everyone, regardless of their health status. The court gave the government 3 days to generate a response to the ruling. However, it warned that this is the last time the current government will get such forgiving treatment. According to the Czech Supreme Administrative Court, its decisions are being systematically ignored by the government. This isContinue Reading

Self-testing in companies was common practice for a long time now. Not only did it prevent the spread of covid-19 in the workplace, but it also allowed the employees to visit bars, pubs and restaurants with just a signed piece of paper. Now the restrictions changed, and although they seem to be looser, this is no longer possible. Self-testing is no longer mandatory for companies, and thus affidavits about being tested cannot be accepted by local businesses anymore. Furthermore, school children are no longer being tested in schools too, so they cannot enter anywhere with just an affidavit signed by their parents anymore. This means that many households are suddenly left with stocks of self-tests that are seemingly useless. HoweverContinue Reading

The fire department in Hradec Králové is mourning the sudden loss of a longtime colleague Jirka Vaniš. He was a professional firefighter for 21 years, so his passing will leave a hole in the department, that will be hard to fill. He was experienced, and willing to help anyone regardless of whether he was on duty or not. His big heart impacted his colleagues so much that they decided to organize a fundraising campaign for Jirka Vaniš’s family. Firemen often risk their lives for the lives or even just property of others. During the recent bad weather, hundreds of Czechs were fully dependent on local fire brigades, whether they needed saving from a tornado, a flood or a fallen tree.Continue Reading

Many Czech players are feeling cheated by the schedule of both the Women’s Singles and Doubles Tennis tournaments. Despite their high ranking in world leaderboards, they mostly have to play on the less equipped tennis court in Tokyo, which lies in the back of the Tennis grounds at the Tokyo Olympics. That means that they don’t have access to advanced refereeing technology, such as the Eagle Eye, a camera system which allows the referee of the match to check where the ball has landed with pinpoint accuracy. Thus faulty decisions can be overruled, which leads to a fairer match. Furthermore, the schedule of their matches not favouring one of the tournament’s favourites. Some even argue that it is intentionally designedContinue Reading

The objective of any loyalty program is to generate repeat visits. It is believed the first modern loyalty program commenced in 1793, when a Sudbury, New Hampshire merchant began rewarding customers with copper tokens. People could accumulate the tokens and use them for future purchases. The idea has been replicated by other retailers over the centuries — from branded metal tokens, over cutting-out trademarks from product packaging, various paper checks, tickets, certificates, and coupons, to plastic cards, stamps, miles, and points. But customers are not the same now as they were back then. We spend nearly a few hours a day on our mobile phones nowadays. Mobile phones allow us to stay connected, shop, or stay informed. And we haveContinue Reading

Today, the government and the ČEZ Group have announced that they will sign an official document communicating their support for the construction of a factory for electric car batteries. The provisional name of this large scale industrial project is ‘The Gigafactory’. The initial first phase investment is set to be at least 52 billion crowns, and will be made by ČEZ and one of two subjects of international scale, who were not officially revealed yet. One of them was previously rumoured to be the Volkswagen AG, to which the Czech car brand Škoda belongs. Volkswagen both fits the description of the two subjects and previously announced that it is planning to construct 6 lithium battery factories in Europe. This projectContinue Reading
