Due to the current vaccination scandal, the head of the State Institute of Public Health (SZÚ) Pavel Březovský resigned. According to the Seznam Zprávy’s investigation, Březovský was responsible for including SZÚ employees and their relatives on the priority list for the COVID-19 vaccination.  “As the director, I accept all responsibility for the situation. For this reason, I have decided to resign today,” Březovský stated. Prime Minister Andrej Babiš called this type of behavior unacceptable, and that this incident slows down the vaccination process. “Such excesses cannot be repeated. Former president Vaclav Klaus was caught eating inside a closed restaurant breaking COVID-19 restrictions on Tuesday, and when questioned about it, owned it and referred to it as an “act of civil disobedience.” Klaus denied being a threat to the public, and noted that unlike other politicians who advocated the lockdowns but then broke them anyway, he was against it from the beginning. According to the Czech Statistical Office, the Czech Republic experienced the highest inflation rate seen in the last eight years. The raised prices on groceries and housing bills are some of the factors which influenced this year’s index. Consumer prices increased on average by 3.2 percent last year, which is the highest increase since 2012. The current inflation rate is even higher than the last year’s one – 2.8 percent. “This was the highest average annual inflation rate since 2012.
