Prague, Jan 6 (CTK) – The National Security Office (NBU) categorically dismissed yesterday that any information about the proceedings of Czech Presidential Office head Vratislav Mynar’s security clearance had leaked from it, which Mynar said on Tuesday.
The NBU, which refused to grant him a top security clearance, considers Mynar’s statements the harming of its good name.
Mynar failed with his remonstrance challenging the NBU’s decision on his security vetting.
He told public Czech Television (CT) he was considering filing a complaint against the NBU over an alleged information leak. He argues that the press reported about the NBU’s decision before it was officially delivered to him.
Mynar also expressed doubts about the NBU “holding the scales even” in all cases.
“The NBU as an independent office categorically rejects the accusation by Vratislav Mynar of having leaked information about the security clearance proceedings and other emotional and unprovable statements of his about the NBU that can be qualified as harming the office´s good name,” the NBU said in its statement yesterday.
The NBU also points out that the Chamber of Deputies permanent commission supervising it neither in the past nor present election terms concluded that the NBU had made a mistake.
Now, Mynar wants to turn to a court over the security vetting.
President Milos Zeman repeatedly said he would dismiss Mynas only after he failed with all appeals. However, in such a case, Mynar would have another respectable post in the Presidential Office, Zeman indicated.
