Prague, Jan 12 (CTK) – The year 2015 was the warmest in the history of measurements at the Prague Klementinum meteorological station that has monitored weather incessantly since 1775, the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (CHMU) says on its web page, adding that last year shares the leading position with 2014.
Last year, the oldest Czech meteorological station measured an average temperature of 12.5 degrees Celsius, which is 2.9 more than the long-term 1775-2014 average.
The years 2014 and 2015 are followed by 2007 with an average temperature of 12.1 degrees Celsius and 2000 with 12 degrees.
“Only three years not falling within the last quarter-century placed in first 17 positions,” meteorologist Pavel Juza said.
The coldest years registered at Klementinum were 1871 and 1838 with the average annual temperature of 7.2 degrees Celsius.
“A total of 14 years had the average annual temperature below 8 degrees Celsius,” Juza said.
He said the 7.2 degree average monthly tempearture last December equalled the average annual temperature in 1871 and 1838.
“This was the by far warmest December at Klementinum,” he said.
